The human body can be described as a spine with three supporting rings. The pelvic ring is the most basic and strongest of these rings, which must nonetheless remain movable. In this online yoga training download, Thomas Myers reviews the bones, joints, ligaments and muscles that make the pelvic ring what it is; the structure that supports the legs in standing and walking, the basis for breathing, and of course the seat of sex and childbirth. He also reviews the structure and movement of the sacroiliac joint and how it relates to sacral stability as well as low back pain, and cycle-related pain.

Almost every long-term condition has a pelvic component, and almost every human has trouble balancing the segmented tent-pole of the spine above the pelvis, so this information will stand you in good stead with most of your students and clients whether you are a teacher or a yoga therapist.
