Join renowned yoga teacher Leslie Howard for a course exploring the vital functions of the three diaphragms of the body, along with yoga practices to enhance their health and functionality.

This workshop suits individuals interested in understanding and optimizing their breathing, core stability, vocal performance, and overall well-being.

The human body possesses many diaphragms, but the most fundamental are the pelvic diaphragm, the respiratory diaphragm, and the vocal diaphragm. These diaphragms are crucial for breathing, core stability, vocalization, and overall physical health.

Also, learn how stress and emotions can impact our breathing patterns and how awareness and control of the diaphragms can improve mental and emotional health.

What You Will Learn

  • The Importance of the Pelvic Diaphragm: The pelvic diaphragm provides essential stability and support to the pelvic organs, and it plays a critical role in core stability. Participants will learn how to engage and strengthen this diaphragm to improve posture, prevent pelvic floor disorders, and support overall pelvic health.
  • The Breath of Life: The Vital Role of the Respiratory Diaphragm: Delve into the primary focus of the respiratory diaphragm, which is vital for the breathing process. Learn about its mechanics during inhalation and exhalation and how it interacts with the ribcage, lungs, and pelvic floor.
  • Unleashing Your Voice: The Vocal Diaphragm: Explore the vocal diaphragm’s role in vocalization and speech. Learn how proper diaphragmatic breathing can enhance vocal quality, projection, and stamina. Participate in vocal exercises to get an experience of the impact of diaphragmatic support on your voice.

Putting It All Together

The three diaphragms do not exist in isolation, Learn about the connection between the diaphragms, breath, and our overall well-being. In particular, we will focus on how the influence of stress and emotions can interfere with our breathing patterns and how gaining enhanced awareness and control of the diaphragms can improve mental and emotional health.

We will address common problems associated with dysfunctional diaphragms, such as breathing difficulties, pelvic floor disorders, and vocal strain. Leslie will show practical yoga exercises to alleviate these issues and improve overall diaphragmatic function.

I wanted to expand on my thank you. Yoga U Online has been an absolute lifesaver for me. I moved from a yoga mecca to a yoga desert. Instead of having my choice of teachers and styles and special workshops, I now have to travel an hour to take a class. The excellent teachers and interesting topics at Yoga U Online have kept me moving ahead in my practice. I am grateful for all the wonderful yoga you bring to me. Thank you.
