This comprehensive four-week series with experienced instructor Melina Meza offers a progressive, evidence-based approach to building core strength and stability – essential components in preventing falls and protecting against fractures.

Why This Series Matters
As experienced yoga practitioners, we may already have an established practice, but aging brings unique challenges that require specific attention to stability, balance, and core strength. This series integrates traditional yoga wisdom with current research on fall prevention and bone health, offering a sophisticated approach that honors both your experience and your evolving needs.

Weekly Program Journey:

Week 1: Foundation of StabilityThe Foot-to-Hip Connection: Our journey begins at the foundation – your feet. In this first session, we’ll explore the intricate connection between your feet and hips, creating a strong base for all movement. Through mindful progression, you’ll discover how to activate and strengthen the muscles that support your every step. We’ll focus on weight transfer techniques that enhance your stability and confidence in movement, setting the stage for the core work to come.

Week 2: Core IntelligenceThe Power Center: Building on our strong foundation, we’ll dive deep into your core – the powerhouse of stability and movement. You’ll discover sophisticated approaches to engaging your core muscles in ways that support and protect your spine. Through careful progression, you’ll learn how your breath can enhance core activation and how this newfound strength translates into improved posture and reduced fall risk in daily activities.

Week 3: Agility in Action – As your confidence grows, we’ll introduce dynamic movement patterns that challenge and enhance your balance and coordination. This session brings playfulness and creativity to your practice while building crucial skills for real-world stability. You’ll learn to move with grace and confidence through asymmetrical poses and flowing sequences, always maintaining the strong foundation and core engagement we’ve developed.

Week 4: Integration and Mastery – In our final week, we bring all elements together into a cohesive, flowing practice. You’ll experience how your enhanced stability, core strength, and dynamic balance work together in more complex movement patterns. We’ll explore variations that challenge you while honoring your body’s needs, helping you develop a sustainable practice that supports your active lifestyle and reduces fall risk.

I wanted to expand on my thank you. Yoga U Online has been an absolute lifesaver for me. I moved from a yoga mecca to a yoga desert. Instead of having my choice of teachers and styles and special workshops, I now have to travel an hour to take a class. The excellent teachers and interesting topics at Yoga U Online have kept me moving ahead in my practice. I am grateful for all the wonderful yoga you bring to me. Thank you.
