Yoga for Detoxification – Awakening Your Body’s Natural Cleansing Systems

Join yoga therapist Vicky Fox for an important course and learn yoga practices to enhance the detoxification processes of the lymphatic system. This 3-part course will give you a greater understanding of the lymphatic system and find some tools we can use in our practice to help stimulate this system.

Our lymphatic system is a critical part of your immune health. In this transformative course, you’ll gain a holistic understanding of how the lymphatic system works and learn practical tools to stimulate lymph flow through breath, movement, and massage.

Each week focuses on different areas of the body, from the upper body to the abdomen and lower limbs. By the end of the course, you’ll have a complete flow incorporating diaphragmatic breathing, muscle contractions, and gravity to boost your immune function and overall well-being.

The Body’s Largest Detoxification System

Our lymphatic system is an important part of the body’s detoxification system. Lymph is a protein-rich colorless fluid that circulates throughout our body, collecting bacteria, viruses, and waste and flushing them out.

The lymphatic system is a one-way system, meaning that it goes in only one direction, from the periphery of the body (fingers and toes, arms and legs) back towards the center of the body, draining into the bloodstream under our collarbones.

When it functions well, our immune system remains strong, and we retain our energy and vitality.

Unfortunately, lymphatic stagnation, even in mild forms, appears to be more common than previously thought.

Mild lymphatic stagnation often goes unrecognized, but it can lead to a range of health consequences, even if it does not progress to more severe conditions like lymphedema.

Some of the potential health issues associated with mild lymphatic stagnation can include discomfort and pain, impaired immune function, joint pain and stiffness, and chronic low-grade inflammation.

People with mild lymphatic congestion may also experience general fatigue as a result of the body’s inability to efficiently remove waste products and toxins through this important detoxification system.

Lymphatic congestion has also been linked to depression and other mental health issues. Overweight individuals, who are more prone to lymphatic congestion, for example, have a higher risk of developing depression.

The recently discovered glymphatic drainage system in the brain plays a crucial role in clearing waste products from the brain. Impairment of this system could potentially contribute to depression or other mental health issues, some researchers believe.

In short, while mild lymphatic stagnation might not seem severe initially, it can have a huge potential impact on our overall health and well-being.

This course qualifies for 3.5 CEs.
