Vera Lester, ViraYoga LLC

Vera believes that yoga gets us out of our heads and back into our bodies and hearts -- which is her mission as a teacher. Her style of teaching aims to nourish and challenge a whole person: body, emotion, intellect, spirit, and humor! She’s fascinated by the physical body, and is obsessed with anatomy, mechanics, therapeutics, and innovative alignment. Vera weaves all her classes with philosophy, chanting and storytelling, and is always encouraging her students to explore the wisdom of their bodies and minds. Most importantly, she believes that yoga should always be fun — both on and off the mat. In 2014, Vera walked away from a successful non-profit career to explore a new life as a “pastor to the spiritual but not religious.” She’s been teaching at Wild Lotus Yoga since 2012, has assisted their Soul School teacher training, and loves mentoring new yoga teachers. In addition to teaching at Wild Lotus, she is especially passionate about teaching yoga to recovering addicts and alcoholics at Odyssey House of Louisiana. She works privately with clients in their homes and in the studio to deepen their practice, help them get to know themselves, find their voice, and heal their bodies and hearts. Vera’s training in Theatre from Northwestern University feeds her storytelling to spark imagination and curiosity in her students. When Vera isn’t teaching yoga, she coaches professionals and powerful women to clarify their vision and amplify their success by accessing their innate feminine prowess.
