My mission is to get my participants to believe in themselves and to realize that they have to take of themselves before they can serve others. At first, I get my students to understand that yoga will increase flexibility, mobility, and help to strengthen the skeletal muscular system. I'll explain that scientific studies have shown yoga will reduce the delayed onset of muscle soreness after workouts. It will increase the parasympathetic nervous system and alpha brain wave levels to improve concentration, to sharpen focus, and increase mental clarity. That yoga was also shown to raise seratonin levels in the body to fight off depression, improve the immune system, and to reduce sleep disturbances. Though the real motivation is that once they practice yoga, they begin to feel stronger, more flexible, focused, and less stressed. They sleep better and are not as sick as they once were. Finally, they feel happier and satisfied with their jobs, relationships, and who they are. All of this happens not because of me, but because they had the courage to walk into the studio and have a belief in themselves.

TRUE BALANCE YOGA + NOTRE DAME ATHLETICS
Steve is the owner of True Balance Yoga and the leading yoga sport’s coach at the University of Notre Dame. Steve is a certified in Kripalu Yoga and also has graduated from the Sage Rountree School for Yoga for Athletes and from the Institute of Yoga Sports Science. He is currently working extensively with the Notre Dame swimming and diving program, the women’s soccer team, men’s lacrosse, and the men’s basketball team. He has worked with the women’s lacrosse team, men’s lacrosse team, men’s baseball team, softball team, women’s golf, the cheerleading squad, and members of the football, cross country/track, and volleyball teams during his tenure.
Steve is a prAna Ambassador and has teamed with prAna to teach clinics for athletes nationally and internationally. Some of his published work can be viewed on Inside Lacrosse, Swimming World, Softball Magazine, and the College Sports Business News.
He has been a registered yoga teacher for over 15 years and has over 20,000 hours of teaching experience. He is also a Certified Licensed Massage Therapist and received his training at the Holistic Wellness Academy.
